I have long experience of working in the Church and Society office of the United Reformed Church. In local church life, I am a committed ecumenical person: a member of Leaside URC/Methodist LEP in Ware, and despite (!) my URC background, currently serving as a Methodist Circuit Steward, alias one of the Executive Officers of the recently-formed Herts and Essex Border Ecumenical Area (Methodist, URC and Anglican).

Rosemary Kidd

Trained initially as a teacher, I became Head of Biology in a 14-18 comprehensive school. I was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1996, and my first pastorate was with an Anglican-Baptist LEP on an outer-city housing estate, where I was also part-time Free Church Chaplain of the local teaching hospital. Most recently, I have worked for five years as a Training and Development Officer for the Methodist Church, a creative opportunity to combine my experiences in education and theology. I joined the Joint Public Issues Team in November 2007 in my new role as Faith and Unity Coordinator of the Baptist Union of Great Britain. I also continue to serve, in a very small way, on the ministry team of Whaley Bridge Uniting Church, which is a Baptist-Methodist-URC LEP, on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District.

I have worked for the Methodist Church as Secretary for Parliamentary and Political Affairs since 2000 with responsibility for the Church's engagement with political issues in a range of areas. I currently work two days a week. Previously I worked for the housing charity CHAS (now Housing Justice) running their education and campaigns work, and as a researcher for the London Housing Unit. I am also a Commissioner with the Gambling Commission, responsible for regulating the gambling industry, so no longer work on gambling issues for the Methodist Church. The rest of my time is taken up by my toddler!
