COP26

You are here: Home / COP26

This year, the world’s biggest climate change summit was held in Glasgow on 1-12 November. At the United Nations Climate Summit, COP26, world leaders gathered to set targets to tackle the climate crisis.

Read our joint response to the outcomes of COP26 here (Released on 14.11.2021).

***************************************

Churches across the UK have the chance to use this as an opportunity, to jump deeper into prayer and action for creation. We also have the chance to raise our voice, and call for ambitious action from our leaders to bring about climate justice.

Updates from Glasgow

Our team members at COP26 are sending daily video updates from Glasgow, with the need-to-know information from that day and prayer points for the coming days. See them on our social media or at YouTube.

You can also sign up to receive these updates via email here:

Take Action: Send a prayer boat to your MP

Make an origami prayer boat, and send it to your MP with a letter asking them to use their power to make COP26 a success for climate justice.

Climate Sunday

Local churches around Britain and Ireland are coming together before COP26, to worship, commit and speak up. Climate Sunday is the UK’s largest ecumenical initiative in the lead up to COP26. You’re invited to hold a climate-focussed service, where you can commit to long term action for the climate and raise your voice, to call for change.

Make sure you register your Climate Sunday service, to be included in our collective act of worship on 5 September 2021, live from Glasgow cathedral. Here, we’ll be presenting faith and government leaders with the actions churches have taken to step towards climate justice.

Climate Sunday is being organised by EIN, the Environmental Issues Network of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.
